# Parameter Documentation

AxiSEM3D is controlled by a set of input files in YAML format. These files are placed into a single folder (the "input folder") and read by the AxiSEM3D executable at startup time. The different options are documented in the following sections.

> **Note:** The documentation in this chapter is automatically generated from the input files in ``examples/templates_develop/`` by the script ``gen_docs.py``. So please do not edit the following files directly.
